The 15.6-inch LED-backlit display (1366 x 768 pixels) presents true 16:9 aspect ratio with high-def resolution and fast 8ms (millisecond) response time for high-quality media playback as well as increased readability in low-light conditions. The Timeline family of notebooks also includes a backup button that lets you easily select and protect your irreplaceable digital files through regular scheduled backups or on an as-needed basis. Data can be backed up to an external hard drive, flash card, thumb drive or to a secure hidden partition on their PC.

This is a real bad laptop ever seen.Even it looks cool with a lot of features.The battery works for around 7 hours at the beginning,after a week,it is only 3 or 4 hours.Also,it is very slow connecting to the internet,and the dvd driver sometimes do not work.Mine was broken a month later,the monitor or screen had many lines.Now I am waiting for the fixing under the guarranty.DO NOT RECOMENDED TO ANY BODY...EVEN ENEMIES.

I sorry to hear that some others have been having problems with this, in my opinion, slightly sub-excellent laptop.
First I order the Aspire with the 14" screen b/c it had an aluminum case and as I'm using the laptop as a scan tool for cars (think heat, oil, dirt, etc.) I wanted the extra protection. But that one was DOA. The screen did not work. I sent it back to Amazon and since they didn't have another at the time they upgraded me to the 15.6 inch with a faster processor.
The laptop has been reliable, freezing only a dozen or so time (not bad for using it every day, several times a day). Sturdy (despite the lack of aluminum case)all the dirt and grease as not adversely affected it. And, hey, looks great.
The battery life is as advertised. I've never owned another laptop so I use it all the time with out pluging it in and my friends who own others keep asking me if I need/want to plug it in. Ha ha!
For some time after I bought it the DVD player would drop out of sight. Not ejectable, not on my computer... I called Acer tech support, got right through to a person, she gave me a cumbersome solution (remove battery, drain capacitors) but told me that a patch would be available soon and it was. Now I don't have that problem.
All in all, a slightly sub-excellent experience.

This aspire timeline was going to be my low weight up to date savior from my heavy laptop. I travel much, international, domestic, between counties. Short an only version.... the mic is not recognized/working, will not burn cd's /dvd's, will not recognize memory card. Acer will not recognize a problem. I'm not a computer teck and they send more and more complicated 'solutions' to fix a computer that i can't carry out the door due to it not working. I can not get a address to send this non working computer. Amazon will only accept it for 30 days. I was traveling for 3 months till i got back home and realized that this computer was almost worthless. Acer is totally not a company you want to ever deal with, cause they will never deal with you. They'll just throw tons of 'do this do that' at you but never really there for you. This is my 7th laptop/notebook but first and last acer. I thought they would ad least talk, they won't. be carefull with acer, what you get is what you're stuck with. good luck

Para los que hablamos español. Esta ACER es la primera que he comprado... siempre he sido usuario de HP ... y esperando una HP que me guste me he topado con esta ACER TIMELINE... el precio excente... me puse a leer las devoluciones de los demas compradores en AMAZON, y me causo un poco de miedo para comprarla ... sin envargo la compre este diciembre ...la maquina es excelente ... fina, liviana , toda de metal, el teclado que tanto se quejaban algunos compradores.. es espectacular todo de metal excelente paraque no entre suciedad me gusta y mucho. El webcam la calidad espectacular. yo solo le he encontrado un solo defecto, bueno no es un defecto sino que para una notebook de esta categoria que no tenga un blutooth incorporado realmente me disgusta.
Lo del consumo de bateria es real... lo de que no calienta es real....
Otra cosa que no me llena... es el sonido de los parlantes ...acostubrado a que mis hp anteriores eran espectaculares... realmente es muy pobre... sin envargo cuando conectas a una salidad digital es realmente excelente..
es decir que si le conectas a un audicular bueno no hay problemas, o si conectas a una salida al LCD o PLASMA con un equipo de sonido suena fenomenal.
Sobre la pantalla ... es realmente de primera calidad porque de donde la mires la imagen es buenisima ... ya no hay problema cuando uno esta usando en el exterior o donde hay mucho sol o luz en exceso que no se puede ver lo que aparece en la pantalla de la compu.. realmente esta nueva tecnologia de pantalla es buenisima.
REALMENTE LES RECOMIENDO ESTA NOTEBOOK ... PRECIO BAJO POR CALIDAD EXCELENTE ... VAN DE LA MANO... ESTOY CONFORME CON SOLO DOS OBSERVACIONES LO DEL SONIDO DE PARLANTES MUY PEQUEÑOS QUE TRAE PERO CON UNA SALIDA DE SONIDO FENOMENAL ...Y LO DEL BLUETOOTH QUE EN ESTA NO ESSTA INCORMPORADO.

I am really wonder how the review is bad, but in my experience it is really cool. There is no freezing and stuck, instead smooth working and long battery life. Maybe I upgraded it from vista to 7? Possible. Anyhow, I like it.
